Vendors will gather Saturday February 11, 10AM-4PM inside The Old Firehouse on North First Street to sell their handcrafted items. Market at Clyde is held the second Saturday of each month. All items are handcrafted by local artist, artisans, crafters and home cooks. Market at Clyde is a registered non profit organization that encourages those with creative talents to share and sell their creations. Booth spaces are only $10. If you would like a space please call 325-518-3939 or email themarketatclyde@gmail.com
Valentine Day will be well represented at this Market. A table will be set up with supplies for creating Valentines. There will be no charge for this fun activity. Bring the family and have a creative event together. Also one of the artists will be doing face painting. Be sure to check out all of the beautiful Valentine creations by the vendors. One of the vendors has beautiful recreations of original early 1930’s Valentines. The original Valentines were saved by her father and she has lovingly recreated each one. This is a special collection of cards for the ones that you love. Of course there is also Valentine décor for your home, office or table, not to mention Valentine cookies, candy arrangements, flower arrangements and more.
Most of the vendors accept special orders. You will find many other items in addition to what is mentioned above. There is no way to list all of the items but here is a partial list; wood crafts of all type to include scroll saw, lathe work, rustic and finely finished wood, wall hangings and crosses combining wood and motorcycle chains, hand crafted writing pens; hammered metal crosses; sewn items such as personalized baby gifts, household items and home décor; fine art; several styles of hand crafted jewelry; soaps and different scrubs; tooled leather; from the kitchen yeast breads, zucchini bread and other sweet breads, pickles, jams and jellies. The list is endless and these creative people are still working in their shops, studios and kitchens. See the article and ad in this paper next week for more information.
Each month Market at Clyde also has a local non-profit organization or church to hold a fund raiser. This month will be a bowl of Chili or Frito Pie with a glass of lemon aide or tea for $5 to benefit the Masonic Education Scholarship. Members of the Baird Masonic Lodge will be cooking and serving the chili along with all of the fixings. This scholarship is given each year directly to a collage or university on behalf of a graduating senior from Baird High School. Students submit an essay to compete for the scholarship. Those interested can learn more by visiting with those preparing the chili.
